On May 1st the Expo 2010 opened its doors in Shanghai. This worldwide largest event for technological innovation will be running for six months. Naturally, Ventuz had to make an appearance.

The Expo has been the leading event for technological novelties and groundbreaking developments for over 150 years. It introduced to the world the telephone, the sewing machine, the escalator and color TV. It is the place where new trends are set. No wonder, Ventuz made it to Shanghai.

The agency *ckMEDIA is running the interactive installations in the pavilion of the German city Duesseldorf with Ventuz. According to the theme of this year's Expo, the installations feature stunning city planning topics – the shifting of the Rhine Waterside Street into a tunnel (Rheinufertunnel) and the transformation of an ancient industrial harbor into a modern and stylish hot spot (Medienhafen) are the main themes of this pavilion.

One of the installations is a 16-seamless-display-wall, on which three different Ventuz presentations are running in turn, controlled by a radarTOUCH. This device makes it possible to turn this installation into a 10 meter multi-touch wall. The wall runs smoothly with a total resolution of 7680 by 1080 pixel out of only one PC with a brand new ATI FirePro V8800 by courtesy of AMD in Munich.

The first of these three installations is a timeline which gives the visitors the possibility to explore Duesseldorf's history via three big interactive wheels. The second installation is a carambolage-like game with interesting facts concerning the city.  Last but not least a 3D simulation of the “Rheinufertunnel” with cars passing by lets the visitors catch the lights of the cars to play with them.

“The playful and curiosity driven access to the city of Duesseldorf attracts many Chinese and international visitors to experience "Duesseldorf at Huangpu-River" and Incas Training and Projekte is proud to be involved in Christians innovative concept” said Stephan Otten, CEO of INCAS Training und Projekte. “The Creative Director Michael Taraschewski of INCAS and their friends and suppliers played a leading role in the success of the interactive part of the big Ventuz story”, so Christian Kuntze of *ckMEDIA, who is responsible for the complete multimedia engineering including the content of the pavilion.

Another Ventuz application runs horizontally with 26 displays facing upward and showing the river Rhine with boats and ships on it. Via another radarTOUCH  the visitors can interact with several dragon boats. This is a place to sit and take a few minutes of rest while watching the boats on the river passing by. Don't forget to look for the small but very nice gimmicks in the animation.

And finally: There are 3 binoculars also with a small Ventuz presentation. If you look "through" the binoculars you have a panoramic view over Duesseldorf that moves with the observer as he turns around, giving the feeling of really standing on a platform in the city of Duesseldorf.

We would like to thank *ckMEDIA for choosing Ventuz for this amazing project. And *ckMEDIA would like to give a special thanks to Rayd for their fabulous physics engine.
