Renders imported Gaussian Splats

Import

The Gaussian Splats Node provides an import function for pre-generated gaussian splats. There are two ways to import a splat into Ventuz project:

• "Import Gaussian Splat": Click the Custom Verbs at the bottom of Properties Editor of Gaussian Splats Node and select the splat file.
• Drag & Drop: Simply  drag&drop the splat file from your computer into the open Ventuz project. Dropping it on the Hierarchy Editor adds a node to the current layer, on the Layer Editor a new layer with the splat node, and on the Ventuz title a new scene.

File Formats

Ventuz supports PLY and SPZ file formats for importing gaussian splats. After the import, file is converted into Ventuz native type (VRF) and saved within the project under the RadianceFields folder. Once the file is converted into VRF, it can be accessed by other GS Nodes via File Input Property. It is not necessary to import the PLY / SPZ file again. Note that the compressed PLY file format is currently not supported.

Properties

1. Gaussian Splats: Defines what is to be rendered.
   1. File: Specifies path to the VRF file.
   2. Cutoff: Defines the cutoff point outside of which individual splats are not contributing to the scene anymore. Lower values trim more of the outer edges, shrinking each splat.

2. RenderMode: Defines how multiple splats are rendered.
   1. Automatic Rendering (default): All splats are aggregated into a single collection and rendered together at the final splat node in the hierarchy.
      
      
      
   2. Manual Render Point: This mode interrupts the accumulation of splats into the the buffer and forces those already collected to be rendered, with the option to adjust the render resolution per collection (RenderScale).
